Stars N Garters Variation 1

Please follow the link at the bottom to try the original "Stars N Garters".

Start with a C-8. Call one of the points where 6 lines meet the "top", and the one diametrically opposite the "bottom". As in the first diagram above, do a 3-winged hexagon in the triangle area at the top (and then the same at the bottom).

3-winged hexagon, for those who don't know it -- do a 6-sided figure close to the point where the 6-lines meet. After 5-6 rounds, you can then jump out to the edge of the triangle. From the far away point, come down 2 lines away to the close point (right on the edge of the triangle). Then go out again to a far away point 2 lines away. Then back in to the original line you were on. Then out 2 lines away. In again 2 lines away, and back out to the starting point. I didn't include a picture for this, but if you need one, let me know.

Looking straight on any 8-line intersection point, you can see the second diagram above. You'll see that the 3-winged hexagon takes up one quarter of the area. In the other quarters, work triangles. Turn the ball around and do it again. Be sure to keep track of the number of repetitions you do (just like "Stars N Garters", you'll be using it again.).

In a very similar pattern to "Stars N Garters", you'll be weaving as you go around. Start in a triangle top (where the angle of the triangle "points" to the 3-winged hexagon). Go to the left through the next triangle top to the + just above the triangle. In this case go 1/3 the distance out for #1 and #3 in the image. For #2, go close to the horizontal line in the +. (There won't be much room to go further out. -- you can do a variation on this, leaving out the 3-winged hexagon, and then you'll have plenty of room to move spot #2 up.)

After doing the same number of repetitions as you did for the triangles, repeat on the bottom half. That's it. You're done!
