Big Star Variation 2

Please follow the link at the bottom to try the original "Big Star".

Begin with a C-8. This ball is harder than the original and Variation 1. You do not follow the lines all the time!

Here the top of the ball will be a point where 6 lines cross (instead of 10). And the bottom of the ball is the diametrically opposed point. Starting at the middle of an edge of the top triangle,we are going to cut 45 degrees (approximately) between the edge of the triangle and the next guide thread over (away from the middle of the triangle). Please look at the line formed by the next side you will go to, and the endpoint of the original triangle. We're going to map out where to go backwards! Just follow the line going to your next point towards the point of the triangle (instead of the edge). (You should be heading towards that 45 degree line, and not away from it.)

Follow that new line down past a 8 line intersection to a 6 line intersection. This is the intersection that your 2 lines will meet. The 45 degree angle and the line that cuts through the triangle meet at this 6 point intersection. You should find that the turn is (like all the others) a sharp one. Cut across the triangle and do it again until you have done a round. You can use a different color on the bottom. HOWEVER -- In this case, the top design and the bottom DO NOT overlap, so you can actually do one side completely, and then the other (as opposed to alternating).

Let's pretend your three colors are grey, pink, and blue. Do 4-7 rounds of grey on top, followed by 1 pink and 1 blue. Do 4-7 rounds on bottom followed by 1 pink and 1 grey to get the image pictured above. You will go over the middle lines of the square 2 times in each direction per round!
