Please follow the link at the bottom to try the original "Big Star".
Begin with a C-8.
Here the top of the ball will be a point where 8 lines cross (instead of 10).
Starting at the middle of an edge of the top square, we'll be following the edge of the square around. Go past the 6 line crossing point to the 8 line crossing point. Again, make a sharp turn -- go through the center of the square to the edge and do it again until you come back to where you started.
You will go over the middle lines of the square 2 times in each direction per round!
If you do one color on the top 4-7 times, alternately with a different color on the
bottom 4-7 times. Then switch to a third color (used on both top and bottom). And finally switch which colors go on top and bottom, you'll end up with the design pictured. (In that case, I used 5 rounds of yellow followed by 2 rounds of red and 2 rounds of bluish green on top, and 5 rounds of bluish green followed by 2 rounds of red and 2 rounds of yellow on the bottom).
Notice that the sides barely cross (you turn at the same corners in both the top and bottom), so you end up with an interesting pattern on the side as well.
